LEGENDS AND FOLKLORE: KARTHI KEYAN

Image
Epochs of turning tales, stories and cultures yearn for their roots every so often. These woven romances and anecdotes protrude from paint, and peer into the wishing well of all our times. Art spins in bellowing bouts around mythology, folklore and fictions. This essence makes for well dimensioned views of our stories as they are told, in memory and practice. Karthikeyan’s art pieces appear as detailed odes to old times, slow burn ardors and the beauty of the aesthetics of life, and love. The artworks remind us, and reek of cultural ties with our lore, songs of youth, the abundance of colors and beauteous beliefs. Karthi Keyan, Tree of Life 10, 2018, Acrylic, 152.4*91.44 cm  Karthikeyan’s art is a brazen melody of colorful surges, sonnets, sweet ideals and the playfulness of tales of mythos. The rich expanses he creates prove to display a powerful scene and characters on his bulging canvases, and paintings that borrow their spirit from a timepiece of the past. The art ideolo...

PHASES OF THE FOREST: SHUVANKAR MAITRA

Image
A forest blooms in speckled entities: youthfulness of light, the wisdom of its barks, fun with the breeze, fermented riddles, stories of allies. Shuvankar Maitra, The Reflection and the Shadows, 2019, Acrylic, 60.96*121.92 cm The artworks created by Shuvankar Maitra are wondrous entities within the canvas. Each day as one wakes to the thoughts of the forest, one can imagine the trickling sunlight on its green leaves, meant to host the yellow rays. Each night as one sleeps, the simple thought of moonlit branches generates poetic verses, a quarry of life cycles, even foundations of horror. Maitra’s art revolves around the epitomes of creating these nourishing trees, hues of wonderlands, nature and pastoral paintings and art. But also, it resolves the wish to preach our natural lands in exquisiteness. Heterogenous hues of life dribble into his art pieces, blending beautifully the vibe of the countryside, flora, enormous supporters of our ecosystem.    Shuvankar Maitra, Yel...

THE GILDED EPICS: SUBRATA DAS

Image
The artworks of Subrata Das are a visual verse of mythology from the Hindu Epics, Folk Tales and Stories spread around parts of India. They speak about a collection of beautiful anecdotes of a time in the past that hints its position in contemporary times as we learn of them, narrate bedtime stories, create dramatic arts and paint their pictures in our minds. A set  of customs and ritual work in his pieces are especially relevant in our celebrations and festivals. The display of work on his canvas is a breath of freshness in the perceived revelations of mythical exquisiteness and abundance. His art is an imaginative forest full of a torrent of radiant hues of blue and green, orange and red symbolising the strength and silhouettes of festivities and bonds. A recurrent theme of the arduous, quixotic, dear story of Radha and Krishna alternates with the bounty of natural utopia from his mind to his creative canvases. FREEDOM IN ART: JITENDRA THORAT

Image
Jitendra Thorat , Down The Rabbit Hole, 2017, Mixed Media, 60.96*60.96 cm Jitendra Thorat’s works are a warm touch when we understand the thought behind his art and sculptures. There is a deep sense of perspective driven by the images of fauna and birds sharing bodies and minds with the frames of women, or the headspace of all those who look and perceive women crossing us every day, the dance of the fabric with both neutral and bold colours. We seek an understanding into the soul of the artist’s work as it speaks about class barriers, and the complete vanishing half of it with notions that need repair. The customary use of white fabric, neutral colours and animals are novel elements of his art collection. Art often reeks of the thoughts: Freedom, Fraternity, Far-Fetched Ideas of growth. Thorat’s art, however, takes us through a process that starts much before this, in the purity of our mind and the strength it takes to speak it. The world of artist, painter and sculptor, Jitendra...

DREAMS AND FANTASIES: AN ARTISTIC OUTLOOK

Image
We curated a wide range of artworks that are influenced by fantasy, opulence, fevered ideas, wild adventures, and more. What do you envision when you close your eyes and imagine what a lucid dream should look like?                    Ranabir Saha, Colors of the Jungle 1, 2022, Acrylic, 91.4*152.4 cm    Our emotions and thoughts, possessions and propriety, wealth and beauty, combined with fear and incomprehensible architecture, rove through our minds and combine to form fantasies or even nightmares. We keep returning to several of them as well. The artworks inspired from dreams and elements of fantasy bring you the feeling of memory to begin with. As you foray into the canvases and what they have to say, you delve deep in your mind, a room of distress, classic comedy or a babble or induction of monstrous waves. It can be a colour, or texture or the taste of lands within those paintings, ...
